Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is silicone filter tubing better than standard clear or green vinyl tubing?
Unlike standard PVC/vinyl tubing, medical-grade silicone never becomes brittle, yellows, or stiffens with age. Its extreme flexibility prevents line kinking at tight bend angles and makes installation on filter barbs significantly easier.
2. Does the anti-static coating make the silicone safe for aquarium livestock?
Yes! UNS Pro Tubing is manufactured from inert, medical-grade silicone designed specifically for sensitive freshwater planted aquariums, dwarf shrimp, and marine environments. The coating is completely non-toxic and aquarium-safe.
3. How do I clean biofilm or algae from inside silicone filter tubing?
Disconnect the silicone hose during routine canister maintenance and run a flexible double-ended spring pipe brush through the interior while flushing with warm water to restore full output flow.
