Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will small fish or baby dwarf shrimp get sucked into the skimmer?
While the floating intake teeth are spaced to catch debris, adding a fine mesh guard or adjusting the internal intake grate helps prevent tiny Caridina or Neocaridina shrimp and small nano fry from entering the suction chamber.
2. Can I run the UNS Delta Mini Surface Skimmer on a timer?
Yes, running the skimmer on an automated timer for 30 to 60 minutes after feedings or routine plant trimming is a popular trick among aquascapers to strip surface debris while preserving maximum CO2 concentration during lighting hours.
3. How often should I clean the internal skimmer sponge?
Rinse the internal foam insert every 1 to 2 weeks in squeezed-out tank water to remove trapped biofilm and leaf fragments, maintaining unrestricted flow and optimal surface skimming power.
