Description
Know Exactly When Your UV Bulb Needs Replacing
The Zilla Rapid Sense UV-Detecting Decor in a Large Poplar Log design brings together naturalistic terrarium enrichment and practical UVB monitoring in a single piece. The built-in Rapid Sense indicator area, located on the underside of the decor, changes color based on the amount of UVB your reptile is actually receiving inside the enclosure.
No more guessing when your UV bulb has degraded past effective output. Simply check the indicator against the included color chart to confirm your animal is getting the correct UV levels for their health. When the indicator signals a drop below the recommended range, it’s time to replace the bulb.
The poplar log design adds a naturalistic, forest-floor aesthetic to any terrarium while providing a functional hide that gives your reptile the privacy and security they need. The non-porous surface resists moisture and cleans up easily, and fluorescent accents throughout the design activate under black light for added visual depth.

Why Reptile Owners Choose It
UVB output degrades long before a bulb burns out, and most keepers have no reliable way to know when that threshold has been crossed. The Zilla Rapid Sense Poplar Log puts a UV indicator directly inside the enclosure at animal level, giving you real-time feedback on the lighting environment your reptile lives in every day. It does the job of a hide and a UV monitor simultaneously, without adding clutter or complexity to your setup.

Material and Design Breakdown
The non-porous construction resists moisture and bacterial buildup, making it well-suited for both humid and arid terrarium environments. The Rapid Sense indicator is positioned on the underside of the log, placing it at a level that reflects the UV exposure your animal actually experiences during daily activity. Fluorescent accents integrated into the poplar log design activate under black light, adding a naturalistic glow effect without requiring any additional accessories.
Setup and Compatibility Guidance
Place the decor inside your reptile’s enclosure within the UVB zone so the Rapid Sense indicator accurately reflects the UV your animal is receiving. Keep the indicator area accessible for regular monitoring. Use the included chart to match the indicator color to the recommended UV level for your specific reptile species, and replace your UV bulb when the indicator signals output has fallen below the recommended range.
Care and Maintenance
Wipe the non-porous surface clean with a damp cloth or rinse as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the surface finish or the Rapid Sense indicator area.
