Description
Common Name: Mondo Grass, Fountain Plant, Snakesbeard, and Lilyturf
Ophiopogon pusillus is a small, evergreen perennial native to East Asia. Despite its grass-like appearance, it belongs to the Asparagaceae family. This plant forms dense tufts of arching, narrow, dark green leaves. Ophiopogon pusillus can produce small, bell-shaped, pale lilac to white flowers on short stems, which are often followed by glossy, dark purple berries.
It’s important to note that while Ophiopogon pusillus is sometimes used in aquariums, it is not a true aquatic plant. It may survive for a short period when submerged, but prolonged submersion will lead to deterioration. Therefore, it’s best suited for terrariums or paludariums rather than aquatic environments.
Notes:
Ideal growing conditions include partial to full shade and regular watering
Do not make sudden changes in growing conditions, as this may lead to the plant dying
Additional research is recommended before purchasing plants
This plant’s final size, coloration and growth rate are dependent upon the condition of the environment – Photos are a representation of what you will receive and may vary
